Don't Fall Asleep Without Me

She sat in the field, unable to think properly. The girl seemed like a walking tragedy. Her once perfectly rounded buns of brunette hair exposed locks and pieces. Her outfit was ragged and dirty. She had thrown her visor down the hill. It laid still in the soft looking blades of grass that concealed it partially.

Rosa hugged her knees close, and started to sob loudly. Her deep pools of blue were clouded with sorrow and grief. She barely could stand being anywhere anymore. It all reminded her vividly of the memories.

Rosa had defeated Team Plasma, being the hero and forever remembered mistress of Unova. She gained popularity and much respect, but she lost something much more important. One of her team members, her Ampharos named Lily, died. She was terribly wounded. Rosa wasn't able to get her to any medical attention. Lily died while battling Ghetsis.

-
'Haha, you look like you're in a bind, Rosa.' Ghetsis had growled.

Rosa growled back, and grabbed for her Pokeball that contained her Samurott. Before she could release it, though, Lily her Ampharos self-released itself into the battle against Ghetsis' Hydreigon. Lily limped out onto the battlefield, and panted. 'I'll be fine, Rosey.' Lily had reassured, and went for his Hydreigon with a strong Giga Impact. Unfortunately, the Hydreigon had avoided it, and countered with a strong Rock Slide attack. It incased Lily within a tomb-like formation of rubble and rocks. Rosa remembers trying to recall her Pokemon, but for some reason she could not.

Within a fit of incoherent curses, Rosa instead released Samurott. 'Hang in there, Lily.' She pleaded.

The girl proceeded to try her best to beat Ghetsis quickly. Finally after knocking out his Toxicroak after his Hydreigon with only Samurott and Arcanine still conscious, Ghetsis was defeated.

Rosa remembers running over to the rocks containing the electric type. Her Samurott had followed weakly, and helped her eagerly tear away at the rubble.

Her eyes and melted into pools of sorrow as she found Lily, beaten up brutally and in an odd-looking position. There was no sign of life left in the Pokemon. Samurott was the one to clarify the death, for it had wailed out in grief, and tried to nuzzle closely to the Ampharos, which had been like it's sister.

Rosa couldn't bare going anywhere nowadays. All the cities and routes reminded her of her training and bonding with Lily. All those familiar places became scary and alone to Rosa now; and it always seemed like Lily's memories were her ghost, constantly pushing and pulling at Rosa's sanity, and haunting and stalking her every step. It drove the girl to the point where she would do anything to just stop this uncontrollable pain that was carried in her head and heart.

The brunette often found herself wandering to this field she never knew about until recently. It was one of the only places Lily had not been to.

She wiped roughly at her puffy eyes. "No... Leave me alone..." She whined in misery. The memories were starting to carry themselves to this place. Was there any place on this earth where Rosa could escape the memories of her deceased Pokemon? Or would she be haunted until her own death?

Rosa was aware that losing Pokemon has happened before. Most people would probably cast her as an attention seeker since she's well known. Rosa was suffering deeply, though. She decided she never wanted to battle again, afraid to lose the rest of her friends the way that she did with Lily. She knew they had the power to self-release themselves, which also scared her. Whenever they did, battle or not, Rosa would yell and beat them down with hurtful words so that they felt guilty. They understood her pain, though, so they didn't feel abused or neglected due to this.

She sighed loudly and just stared blankly up ahead. She didn't react as she felt cold droplets of water his her body. In fact, she couldn't even feel them.

It had started to rain. The rain droplets mixed in with the salty tears on Rosa's pale, slender face. She let out another shaky sigh and gently laid herself on the muddy, wet grass. Her petite body shuddered at the coldness that she now felt. She hugged her arms. Her puffy, blue eyes started to flutter closed.

She knew that if she fell asleep, this was it. She knew she wouldn't ever have the power to wake up again. She wanted more than anything to fall asleep.

As her eyes closed softly, she felt her whole body losing strength. She felt consciousness slowly ripping away from her body shell. 'Goodbye... I love you all...' She thought as she started to cry silently, and drift off into lifeless darkness...

Until something warm, yet damp hit her body, snapping everything back into place.

"Damnit, Rosa." A familiar, raspy voice hissed in her returning hearing.

Rosa's eyes opened again, and she felt her mind returning. Instead of the sadness, it was busy processing what the voice had said.

Her fuzzy eyesight watched knees slam into the muddy ground, splashing mud onto her face slightly. The voice was now a bit panicked, and she was shook roughly. "Rosa?! Wake up!"

She let her eyes roam up, and they widened as her rival, the stubborn, loud bluenette fill her sight. He was panting and soaked, but he was worried about the brunette in front of him.

"Hugh..."

"Rosa!" Hugh tried to pull her up into a sitting position, but failed. Her body was kinda heavy since she literally was still regaining conscious-

She bit her lower lip, accidentally drawing blood. She managed to sit up, and coughed aggressively into her wet, dirty hand. Hugh's red sports jacket hung gingerly over her shoulders. She gazed with dazed blues up at her rival.

He panted and shivered from the cold rain. "Why would you go out in weather like this, Rosa?! Are you an idiot or something?!"

She managed a shrug, and looked away. "I'm sorry..."

The bluenette boy sighed shakily, and shook his head. "It's Lily, isn't it...?" He looked sadly into her puffy, unreadable blue pools.

Rosa froze. When he said the name, all her senses and emotions flooded over her like a breeze of wind. She gawked and returned his gaze. "..." She watched as everything about the Ampharos passed by her sight within seconds. She didn't notice that she had started to cry.

Hugh frowned, and lifted a gloved hand. He cupped her wet, muddy cheek and used his thumb to stop the flow of tears tenderly. "Why must you cry so much? Big baby..." He said with a soft tone.

She shook his hand away, and covered her face. She started to cry loudly. "Stop it! Just stop!"

He sighed through his nose, and pulled her into a soft embrace that flooded warmth over the two.

Rosa, out of instinct, scooted closer and rested her head on his shoulder, and cried.

Hugh rubbed at her back in a comforting manner. The boy knew what she was going through. Only because of his journey to get his sister's Purrloin back from Team Plasma. Seeing it as a Liepard, growling and unfamiliar to him, shattered his heart. He had been speechless, and couldn't think of what to do. He thought of how his sister would react; that her precious, loving Purrloin had become big and scary, and hated the sight of Hugh. He had saw situations in his head where his sister would get hurt badly by the Liepard. All because of Team Plasma. It wasn't necessrily Rosa's situation, but the both of them had been ruined in some shape or form by Team Plasma; the evil in this world. Rosa was just in a worse case. It also shattered Hugh's heart.

The two sat there in the rain, comforted by their embrace.

"Rosa... You need to learn that Lily is gone."

There's that name again. Rosa suddenly snaked away from him. "NO! I HAVE LEARNED! BUT... IT'S LIKE I'M HAUNTED, HUGH! I CAN'T ESCAPE THIS SADNESS THAT RAINS OVER MY HEAD AND THOUGHTS EVERY DAY! I LOVED LILY! SHE UNDERSTOOD EVERYTHING ABOUT ME!" Rosa screamed out. Her gaze had hardened into a cold, disgusted glare on the bluenette.

Rosa had never given that glare to Hugh before. It caught him off guard. Of course, he didn't know what he had said wrong. He was just a bit too ignorant to most of his blunt, possibly offending comments. Maybe he's offended Rosa so much through their journey, but she just kept quiet. She was just that kind of girl; not wanting to be a burden, and just taking everything in with a smile. Until she can't take it anymore; and this was when that kicked into effect.

"You'll never understand." She hissed harshly.

That blew it. Hugh shook his head. "You idiot girl! You don't know true sadness and guilt! YOU'RE TOO DAMN IGNORANT!" He yelled out. His voice boomed and echoed into the air. The soft, droning sound of rain filled in the yell. "Ever since Team Plasma took my sister's Purrloin, I had nothing but hatred and sadness on my damn mind. I watched her cry, beg my already fed up parents to find Puggy. They left that task into my hands! I either made my sister happy, or my whole family would be disappointed in me!"

"Whatever." Rosa spat, looking away as she wheezed a bit.

"..." As anger built up in him, it was materialized into a rather different feeling. He let out a sigh to calm down. "Rosa... Why were you out here?" He asked shakily.

The brunette blinked at his question, and scoffed. "So now I can't go anywhere?"

"You wanted to end it... Didn't you?" He asked, and looked up with unreadable, captivating red eyes at her. "You knew that you're losing your mind. You wanted to pass peacefully in the rain."

"..." Rosa fell silent. Sadly, it was true. She knew it was going to downpour that day. She would catch pneumonia, and lay in the rain and slowly die.

"Rosa." Hugh sighed. He let out a loud cough. He was starting to get sick himself. He regained himself, and looked at her. "I'd be lost without you here."

Rosa was caught off guard by his confession, and gawked. She looked up at him in shock. "... What?"

Hugh sweatdropped. "Rosa, don't you dare ever try to do this again. I won't ever forgive you." He threatened gently. He had emphasized the 'ever'.

The brunette felt her lip quiver. His words really... Touched her. "Hugh..."

"Without you, I could have never found Liepard again. I wouldn't met my amazing team or survived out there. I..." He paused. "I wouldn't have fallen in love with you."

Rosa froze, her small jaw dropping in shock. Her cold cheeks had rapidly gained warmth. "... What?"

Hugh hissed, and hugged her tightly. He had started to cry now. "Damnit, you idiot! Don't scare me ever again!"

She processed his words. This was one of those moments that could be passionate and heart warming, or she could push him away and make things worse. She chose to hug him back tightly, and apologize, though. The bluenette just held her close, and whispered apologies back.

Ever since that night, Rosa hasn't once spent a night withought Hugh. She couldn't bear to, anyway.
My first time really writing about any other shipping. SequelShipping is also one of my favorite shippings, and it was nice to write something away from SoulSilverShipping. Be warned though:

I probably wrote Lyra in there at least once '//stabbed brutally

It's also fairly sad, so be careful for that too.
